OLYMPUS
STARDATE 06.13.26
OLDE KINGDOM – INVERSE SPACE
Zeus sat upon his throne in his Ready Room. A small black thundercloud hovered above his head, rumbling with discontent. He was an eight foot tall figure, brimming with powerful, supple muscles, and a face that looked chiseled out of granite. Short, clean cut, black hair topped his head, complimented by a black beard and mustache. He appeared as a man in his thirties, although he was far, far older than that. He wore the uniform of a Keeper Captain.
He dreamt of the past. Long, long ago, on his Homeworld, he sat high on a mountaintop overlooking his subjects. They worshiped him and his entire family. In exchange, Zeus and his kin bestowed the mortals with gifts, miracles, protection, and guidance. The symbiotic relationship was perfectly balanced. All was good.
But over time, the people below him advanced and changed. Zeus liked them better when they were simple folk. Now, they were…something else. Ultimately, they developed the technology to travel into deep space. They left their Homeworld, never to return, leaving Zeus and his family alone.
An eon passed. Then one day, the Keepers came. They brought with them, idealism, benevolence, dreams, enthusiasm, discipline, cooperation, and most importantly, hope. After making contact with Zeus and his family, they invited him to join the Keepers. Initially, he scoffed at the invitation.
But something inside of Zeus changed. He looked into their future on their Homeworld and all he saw was desolation and loneliness. Zeus knew that, eventually, each of them would fade away. For some reason, they needed contact with Mortals. Perhaps not necessarily worship, but at the very least, his family needed to be among and surrounded by Mortals.
So Zeus accepted the Keeper’s invitation. Some of his family was furious at his decision. Most were in agreement. They too saw the future and where their path would lead if they didn’t change their direction.
Thus, Zeus finds himself in command of a Keeper Heavy Cruiser. He is now beholden to a Human Heirarchy of Command. He is now obligated to follow Human Rules. He has lowered himself to the position of those who once worshipped him. Did he make the right decision? His entire family, including his beloved wife, were aboard the Olympus, serving various functions.
“Captain Zeus, incoming priority call from Keeper Command.”
Zeus cringed at the title. How many times has he corrected his crew about this? It was frustrating.
“Put it through.”
A woman slowly appeared on the monitor in his Ready Room. Zeus stared at her without blinking.
“Captain Zeus, I assume you are doing well. I’m sure your starship is in order.”
“Admiral Aleena. Please, just call me Zeus. Now, how can I be of service?”
“Very well…Zeus. The Shacklers have launched yet another fleet toward Base Station Castalian. Our limited ships in that area are no match for their vessels. Castalian could suffer major damage this time. i need a hard hitting ship like the Olympus to make them realize the error of their ways. Your orders are to proceed to Base Station Castalian at maximum warp and directly engage the Shackler Fleet.”
Zeus’ eyes crackled with lightning.
“It will be done, Admiral Aleena. Either we will achieve success or the Olympus will be blown to bits. You have my word.”
Admiral Aleena nodded. She knew that Zeus was the most reliable Captain in the entire Keeper Fleet. He has proved it time and time again. When he said he was going to do something…he did it.
Admiral Aleena saluted Zeus from her transmitting location. Zeus stood at attention and saluted back at Admiral Aleena.
Together, they recited the Keeper Creed aloud.
“AM I MY BROTHER’S KEEPER? YES…YES, I AM. WE ARE THE KEEPERS!”
