{"id":18,"date":"2026-04-19T12:23:33","date_gmt":"2026-04-19T12:23:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/operationgenesisgalaxies.com\/?p=18"},"modified":"2026-04-19T23:36:49","modified_gmt":"2026-04-19T23:36:49","slug":"star-fleet-battles-order-of-ultimate-truth-inquisition-heavy-cruiser-ssd-mitrax-galaxy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/operationgenesisgalaxies.com\/?p=18","title":{"rendered":"Star Fleet Battles &#8211; Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser SSD Mitrax Galaxy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE MITRAX GALAXY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE ORDER OF ULTIMATE TRUTH SHIPS<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>(MXR2.1) INQUISITION HEAVY CRUISER (CA):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser was a heavily armored vessel in the Mitrax Galaxy outfitted with powerful weaponry. Well known for its fearsome Heavy Holy Cannons, whose slow build-up and release of energy could be detected by enemy starships, the Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser also possessed a vast array of Proton Dischargers. Surprisingly, the Order of Ultimate Truth never developed Neutronium Armor, opting instead for the implementation of Hemisphere Armor on their starships.<\/p>\n<p>What differentiated the Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser from enemy starships was a strange device called the Shield of Truth. When activated, the Shield of Truth absorbed and stored power from incoming energy fire. When enough energy was stored, after repeated enemy assaults, the Spear of Judgement was activated. This short ranged, directionally limited, mauler-like weapon caused massive devastation to its target. The combination of the Shield of Truth and the Spear of Judgement generated widespread fear in all of the enemies of the Order of Ultimate Truth.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>DESIGNER NOTES:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The original Order of the Ultimate Truth Heavy Cruiser designed by Francois Angers was armed with Large Gauss Cannons. In order to avoid confusion with Qixa armaments, I changed the name of their heavy weapons to Heavy Holy Cannons.<\/p>\n<p>As noted in the Human Cooperative&#8217;s Designer Notes, the Proton Pulse Emitters have been changed to Proton Dischargers to avoid confusion with Sigvirion Pulse Emitters.<\/p>\n<p>The Heavy Holy Cannons needed revision to bring them more into Alpha Sector Standards. Francois favored three Powerful Heavy Weapons instead of the Alpha Sector&#8217;s four Heavy Weapons. But, as noted in the Human Cooperative&#8217;s Designer Notes, this poses a number of problems. So the Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser received four Heavy Holy Cannons, but with revised damage tables and arming costs.<\/p>\n<p>Francois designed the Energy Absorber to act as a Battery which can store multiple points. But this poses a number of issues. In particular, one hit on the DAC and the ship no longer has any Reserve Power. Furthermore, the very name of Energy Absorber is misleading, as it could potentially lead one to believe it somehow absorbs energy damage. For this reason, the Energy Absorber was renamed to the Energy Cell.<\/p>\n<p>The Proton Pulse Emitter Type C (now the Proton Discharger Type C) had a damage table similar to a Phaser-2. I thought this was fine and left it as is.<\/p>\n<p>The Proton Pulse Emitter Type A (now the Proton Discharger Type A), however, raises some questions. Its damage table is similar to a PH-3, but with more limited range and higher damage output. Curiously, Francois designed the original Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser with eight Type A Phasers. The limited range of such a high number of Phasers could cause issues during Playtesting. I highly suspect they will, but I left them as originally designed for now. We will see how Playtesting goes and then adjust as necessary.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not sure why Francois separated the Shuttles into two separate Bays, but I left his original design as is.<\/p>\n<p>Even with the hemisphere armor, I found Francois&#8217; original design of the Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser to be tactically limited. Other than its powerful Heavy Weapons, the starship simply had a suite of Phasers (with many of them very limited in range). This doesn&#8217;t give a Captain many tactical choices in battle.<\/p>\n<p>To solve this and to add to the tactical complexity of the Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser, I developed the Shield of Truth and the Spear of Judgement. Both devices require tactical planning in order to be used successfully. And they make the Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser far more interesting to fly. The Shield of Truth absorbs partial energy from incoming damage and stores it for later use as the mauler-like Spear of Judgement.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, the Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser is a valuable addition to the Mitrax Galaxy. The ship has been developed beyond what Francois originally created. It will require plenty of Playtesting. Per the Mitrax Galaxy Designer Notes, the Goals of Playtesting are: to be Balanced against Alpha Sector starships (of the same type) and to be Balanced against other Mitrax Galaxy starships (of the same type). Time will tell what changes need to occur (if any).<\/p>\n<p>There is plenty of room for growth for the Order of Ultimate Truth. The Heavy Holy Cannons possess no overload, proximity, fastload, or underload abilities. These could be developed either as technology tests or as the development of X-Technology is approached. The power stored by the Shield of Truth cannot be used for other purposes, but this can change as technology advances for the Order of Ultimate Truth. The Order of Ultimate Truth might learn the limitations of the Proton Discharger Type A and make decisions to upgrade them. They might also realize the vulnerabilities of the Energy Cell and institute changes to better protect their Reserve Power.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>HEAVY HOLY CANNONS (HHC):<br \/>\n* Heavy Holy Cannons are armed over three turns.<br \/>\n* Heavy Holy Cannons require three points of energy on each of the three turns of arming.<br \/>\n* Heavy Holy Cannons can be held for two points of energy each turn.<br \/>\n* In order to fire a Heavy Holy Cannon, an Announcement must be made in {6D1} of any impulse. The intention to fire each Heavy Holy Cannon must be announced individually.<br \/>\n* The Heavy Holy Cannon cannot be fired until at least four impulses have passed since the Announcement. From the fourth to the eighth impulse after the Announcement, the Heavy Holy Cannon can be fired.<br \/>\n* If the Heavy Holy Cannon is not fired from the fourth to the eighth impulse after the Announcement, a New Announcement must be made.<br \/>\n* Heavy Holy Cannons are destroyed on TORP Hits on the DAC.<br \/>\nTreat Quantum Phased Torpedoes as Photon Torpedoes in all other respects not noted above.<\/p>\n<p>SHIELD OF TRUTH (SOT):<br \/>\n* The Shield of Truth can be activated every turn.<br \/>\n* The Shield of Truth requires four points of energy to activate.<br \/>\n* Once activated, the Shield of Truth covers three adjacent shields. The three adjacent shields are chosen by the owning player at the time of activation. Adjacent Shields chosen during prior turns have no bearing on which three adjacent shields can be chosen during the current turn.<br \/>\nFor example, on Turn 2, the Shield of Truth is activated and the player chooses for the Shield to cover Shield #6, Shield #1, and Shield #2. On Turn 3, the Shield of Truth is activated and the player chooses for the Shield to cover Shield #3, Shield #4, and Shield #5. On Turn 4, the Shield of Truth is activated and the player chooses for the Shield to cover Shield #5, Shield #6, and Shield #1. The Shields chosen on different turns have no bearing on one another.<br \/>\n* Once activated, the Shield of Truth will protect the chosen three adjacent shields for eight impulses. Once eight impulses has elapsed, the Shield of Truth will deactivate until the next turn.<br \/>\n* If enemy damage strikes one of the three shields protected by the Shield of Truth, the Shield of Truth will store every fourth damage point for later use. This absorption both reduces the amount of damage scored on the shield and stores the damage point for later use. The reduction to the total damage is applied before the damage is marked off the facing shield. The Shield of Truth can absorb a maximum of ten damage points per turn. Once this limit is reached, the remaining damage is applied normally to the facing shield.<br \/>\nFor example, the Shield of Truth is activated and protects Shield #1, Shield #2, and Shield #3 for 8 impulses. An enemy ship fires and scores 36 damage against Shield #2. The Shield of Truth absorbs 8 points of the 36, reducing the damage to 24. 24 points of damage are applied to Shield #2. The Shield of Truth stores those eight points from turn to turn until it is used.<br \/>\n* The Shield of Truth can store a maximum of twenty points of energy from turn to turn. These stored points are cumulative from turn to turn.<br \/>\nFor example, the Shield of Truth absorbs 8 points on Turn #1. Then the Shield of Truth absorbs 4 points on Turn #2. On Turn #3, the Shield of Truth absorbs 6 points. On Turn #4, the Shield of Truth could have absorbed 6 points from an enemy strike, but the Shield of Truth has a limit of 20 points. So the Shield of Truth only absorbs 2 ponts of energy, completely filling the storage capacity for the Shield of Truth.<br \/>\n* The Shield of Truth can store absorbed energy from prior turns without being activated on the current turn to protect three shields. One point of energy is required to power the Shield of Truth so it can continue to store all of the energy it has absorbed up to that point. If the Shield of Truth is storing energy and the one point of energy required to power the Shield of Truth is not paid, all of the stored energy is lost immediately.<br \/>\n* If the Shield of Truth is destroyed (both boxes) while energy is stored in it, that energy is converted into damage points which are immediately applied to the owning starship.<br \/>\n* Energy stored in the Shield of Truth cannot be used for any purpose except to power the Spear of Judgement.<br \/>\n* The Shield of Truth is destroyed on FLAG Hits on the DAC. Two hits are required to destroy the Shield of Truth.<\/p>\n<p>SPEAR OF JUDGEMENT:<br \/>\n* The Spear of Judgement takes the energy stored in the Shield of Truth and converts it into a powerful mauler-like attack.<br \/>\n* The Spear of Judgement requires two points of energy to activate. This energy is separate from the energy stored in the Shield of Truth.<br \/>\n* The Spear of Judgement has a very limited Firing Arc and distance. It is FHR with a maximum distance of four hexes.<br \/>\n* The chosen target within the FHR is automatically hit by the Spear of Judgement. No To-Hit Roll is necessary. The Spear of Judgement can only hit one target at a time.<br \/>\n* All of the energy stored in the Shield of Truth must be used by the Spear of Judgement. Partial energy usage is not allowed.<br \/>\n* The Spear of Judgement delivers twice the amount of energy stored in the Shield of Truth as damage to the target&#8217;s facing shield. For example, ten points of stored energy would convert into twenty damage points against the intended target.<br \/>\n* The Spear of Judgement must be used on the turn it is activated with two points. It cannot be held. If the Spear of Judgement is not used by the end of the turn, all of the energy stored in the Shield of Truth is lost.<br \/>\n* The Spear of Judgement is part of the Shield of Truth. It cannot be destroyed by hits on the DAC. If the Shield of Truth is destroyed (both boxes), the Spear of Judgement can no longer be activated.<\/p>\n<p>ENERGY CELL: This functions exactly as described under (HN100.0). Only the name has changed.<\/p>\n<p>HEMISPHERE ARMOR: Functions exactly as described in the Basic Set except that the armor only protects the designated hemispheres on the SSD.<\/p>\n<p>PROTON DISCHARGER TYPE C (PD-C):<br \/>\n* Costs 1 Point of Energy to Fire.<br \/>\n* Cannot be Held.<br \/>\nTreat as Phasers in all other respects not noted above.<\/p>\n<p>PROTON DISCHARGER TYPE A (PD-A):<br \/>\n* Costs 0.50 Points of Energy to Fire.<br \/>\n* Cannot be Held.<br \/>\nTreat as Phasers in all other respects not noted above.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; THE MITRAX GALAXY &nbsp; THE ORDER OF ULTIMATE TRUTH SHIPS (MXR2.1) INQUISITION HEAVY CRUISER (CA): &nbsp; The Order of Ultimate Truth Inquisition Heavy Cruiser was a heavily armored vessel in the Mitrax Galaxy outfitted with powerful weaponry.
